The 1,000km Service

I think the red in my hair is already starting to fade a little bit. Although Dru says it's still quite red if you look at it under the sunlight....

I booked my car into Ryde Toyota (cos that's where I got my car) last Wednesday and I sat in their reception area for 2 hours waiting for my car to get serviced and the review mirror panel on the left side looked at (more about this later). Well fair enough I was waiting since 7:30am and the boys don't even start working until 8am... I just sat there in their reception area knitting... and knitting and knitting and knitting! I almost finished a scarf by the time they finished with my car!

The panel where the left review mirror sits on had some white blotchy bits on it when I got it from the dealer, so I told the guy to have a look at it and see whether it needs replacing or something. He comes back and says 'Yeh the boys looked at it and just gave it a polish with *something something* and the blotches are gone! So it doesn't need to be replaced.'

Well, I get it home without checking it properly and when my dad had a look, he said he how come this other panel's a little scratched? Bloody hell, I knew I should've checked it before I left the place! So I brought it back on the Friday afternoon and the guy finally relents and said yeh ok, we'll order that in for you and when it comes in, we'll let you know and we'll replace it for you.

At least they're offering to replace it for me! :)

And no name for my car just yet, maybe she'll never get a name. Naming cars are a bit gay isn't it?.....

Helen's jetted off to Korea for the next 4 weeks or so, the lucky woman! She better bring back lots of photos of her trip over there!

This girl, she doesn't even let us know she's off on holiday until I try to make plans with everyone to meet up. She's like, 'Oh I can't make Friday.' And that's it! I had to ask her why not before she told me that she's going overseas!!

Although I guess when I made plans to go to Hong Kong in September last year, I told them just a week or so beforehand, but at least it wasn't a day or so before going away! We couldn't even meet up for dinner before she left *sigh*

We'll meet up whilst she's away anyway. Which reminds me, I need to start asking around about this upcoming weekend!

The Car Wash

My car was so dirty cos it rained and dirt stuck all over her so I washed my car on Sunday, well, Dru helped me wash her at his place cos he had just finished washing his car when I arrived. This was the first time he had washed it since he bought it second hand in Nov last year. There was this big patch of oily stuff on the inside of the passenger side windscreen - it was so gross! I told Dru so many times to clean it, but he's so lazy and hasn't cleaned it til now.

Lucky I rocked up at the right time to get my car washed too! But then it rained on Monday and Tuesday so it got kinda dirty again :(

I've finally driven 1,000km so my car needs to get the first tune-up. I'll have to book it in for next Wednesday.

I still haven't thought of a name for my car yet, it'll come to me later I guess. I haven't exactly been thinking much about it lately.

I wanted to dye my hair for ages, but I've been holding off for ages. Finally, yesterday I just made up my mind to dye it!

It was brown:

Now it's got a red tinge to it:

Does it suit me?

All Things Good and Nice... and Bad

I think I'll only be putting out monthly posts from now on.... it seems like that's the way it's heading to be.

I've been going to the gym almost religiously (at least 5 days a week, which is pretty good for me. Me, who hasn't really exercised properly since Year 10!) for the past 2-3 months, I even had a personal trainer. It was a bit expensive to have a PT though.... cost me $65 per 1 hour session. It was worth it though, I've lost 1kg, which isn't much I know, but more importantly is that I feel pretty fit and I've started getting quite good muscle definition. I've been mainly doing cardio, core exercises and resistance training on my arms and legs.

But it's still a long way to go before I'll get to where I want to go.

I think my upper arms are slimmer.... *hehehe* My upper arms has always been quite fat, nowadays, I'm not sure whether it's psychological or whether my arms really have gotten any slimmer, but I think it looks less fat... And my thighs....

Maybe it's just that they're not as wobbly as they used to be!! Yeh, I think that's it.

Or maybe I'm just kidding myself.

-------

Anyhoo, on another note, I've got my new car and it's soooo cute! Surprisingly, I haven't taken any photos of the sexy thing yet, but I've been meaning to do so, just haven't quite had the time.

Hopefully take some this weekend. Need to clean her up though.

Is it fashionable still to name your car?

Hmm, if it is, what should I name her? And yes, my car is definitely a "her". She's too sexy to be a boy. Gosh, I'll really have to think about this. And let you know what I come up with.

-------

Today at work was so busy for me.

We only had 3 dog speys, a rabbit castrate and a leg amputation, and I only did one of the speys, but my first consult case was a cat with bilateral kidney cysts, which I had to do xrays, FNA of kidney and blood tests to find out it was kidney cysts, then the cat ended up being euthanased anyway just before I finished at 5pm.

I also had a dog that's had ear infections for like 3 years, it was a polyp and it was removed at the beginning of this year, but it's still getting ear infection in that ear... I'm so frustrated about what to do with it! I'm going to sedate it soon and have another good look down the ear to make sure the polyp hasn't come back. I can't think of anything else to do!

Then I had a Rottie come in with a humungus hot spot on the left side of the neck/face and I had to sedate it to clip it up really nice (cos it was flinging its head around) and clean it up well (there was a huge piece of pus stuck onto a part of the hot spot) and I had to go through with the owner about flea control (it had fleas galore! also getting itchy on the back, probably part of why he's got this hot spot) and how to treat this hot spot.

The sedation went pretty crap, the dog's heart rate was too low so I had to reverse part of the sedation straight after I sedated it and then he started going that bluey Domitor colour so we had to hoist him up onto the dental table in order to put him on some oxygen. Then we discovered that both his ears were a little too dirty (another reason why he's got this hot spot?), but cytology didn't show an infection, so we just cleaned it up well. This dog's bill ended up being almost $300 cos he needed oral antibiotics as well as topical cream, plus flea control, sedation and ear smears.

*takes a breath*

Does that sound pretty easy?

Now that I think about it, it doesn't seem like all that much, but it was a rush here and there and everywhere for me, I was like 'Oh I need to call this cat's owner, they called me about their cat half an hour ago ', 'Oh I need to get this done because his owner's coming in at 3pm and it's already 2:30pm!', 'Oh crap this dog's heart rate is 48 bpm and plus he's going blue, we better put him on some oxygen!!!!', 'oh shit, this cat's got renal failure as well as bilateral kidney cysts, and I need to tell the owner the best thing for this cat is euthanasia'...................

What a crappy work day, but everything was done before I finished up at 5pm, so it wasn't so bad. One thing I do need to do tomorrow is to type up one of the cases I had today, but was too busy so I forgot.

-------

Yesterday was my day off (I get every Wednesday off) and so I went to the gym in the morning, did some shopping afterwards then went home for lunch (I'm broke at the moment so trying to save every bit of money I can!). At about 12:30-1pm, Dru called me and said that he had free tickets from work to go to the Status Quo and Deep Purple concert happening that night from 6:30pm.

Now, rock concerts aren't exactly my scene, but I thought, 'Hey, free tickets, why not??' So I had to drop around to Dru's house, pick up some casual clothes (he wears suits to work) then go to the city and meet up with him.

We quickly ate a $7 steak dinner at a local pub near his workplace and then headed over to Horden Pavillion where the concert was playing. I paid $6 to park my car on the street and then proceeded to nap during the whole entire concert.

Aren't I a lovely concert goer?

With all that rock music pumping in the Pavillion, there I was, leaning against Dru's shoulders and nodding off to La-La-Land.

I swear I have something with loud noises and falling asleep!

My mum used to tell me that when I was just a baby, I would be sleeping soundly throughout her Mahjong sessions with her friends. All her friends were amazed at how I could be sleeping so well with all that racket going on.

Nowadays, I sometimes feel like sleeping whenever I go to parties with loud music, when I go clubbing, at rock concerts... But sometimes I really do fall asleep during these events...

How embarrassing!

There's everyone else at the concert, screaming and jumping and dancing around...

And there I am with my eyes closed, sleeping. But hey, I woke up at the end of almost every song and clapped along with everyone else, then went back to sleep again.

Ah well.

I think it was an okay night, nonetheless. (Apart from the rain because the bottom of my pants got soaked)

However, next time I may just give rock concerts (especially rock concerts where I don't even know the band/s that are playing) a miss.

Even if I were to be given free tickets.
