As I've mentioned previously (I think?) I am rostered off on Wednesdays. Fortunately, one of my close high school friends has also switched to get Wednesdays off. Previously, I had no one to go out with on my days off... I just had to go to the gym, walk around the shopping centre, surf the net and rent videos to pass the time by.
How boring, huh?
For the past 3-4 weeks, we've been going out for coffee (well, a hot chocolate or juice for me) and the such. It's sooo good! We even got our hair done in the city!
Today started off with coffee (a sour lemon drink for me) in Castle Towers and then she told me that she was meeting up with her parents afterwards to go yumcha at Rhodes. She asked me if I wanted to go if I wasn't doing anything, so since I had nothing else to do, I said yes.
I've never really met her parents much, I've occasionally seen them out at dinner and stuff but never really talked to them as such. Well. I talked to them so much at yumcha, Janice hardly said anything.
After yumcha, they went to Ikea and Binglee to look for some stuff and Janice and I went to visit her boyfriend who was working nearby some 5 minutes drive away. We grabbed another coffee (an iced chocolate this time) and disturbed his work for a little while until her parents called to let us know they're ready to buy their stuff and go home.
I wore high heels the whole day and by this time, my feet were starting to be quite painful. Luckily I didn't get a blister! I thought I was going to though! My big toe was really starting to hurt with every step I took.
Anyways, so that was pretty much my day off.

On another note: I'm off to see Cirque du Soleil's 'Varekai' tomorrow night!! I'm so excited!!It's my birthday present from Dru :))) I hope I finish work on time tomorrow, because I finish at 7pm in Parramatta and Varekai starts at 8pm at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park! I would so die if I got there late. I'll have to drive really-really-fast! I really hope it won't be too busy! *fingers crossed* I'll let you know how the show went!
I just watched the last 3 episodes of Season 2 and it was simply fantastic!
Heartwrenching, beautiful, moving, suspenseful. And very sad in some bits. Yes, it made me cry. (surprise, surprise)
There's enough medical jargon mixed in with drama to get me really drawn in into this series. I'm not too sure why I love watching it so much. So many people have said that this season of Grey's wasn't as good as the first season but I totally disagree. I remember being so excited when they announced that the second season was finally here, I anticipated the coming of that Monday night at 9:30pm for weeks!
I've been waiting patiently every week to see another episode of GA, currently, they've just shown episode 21 and we're waiting on episode 22. When I accidentally stumbled upon episodes 25, 26 and 27...... Well..... I just couldn't resist!!
I mean, who would?!? Right?
It meant skipping episodes 23 and 24 (and I for one really, really hate that; I hate even skipping a few minutes of a movie, I always rewind it back to to see what the one sentence I missed was), but it was really worth it.
For when I go to HK, my shopping list so far includes:
Camera - small & compact, high megapixel, video function. My brother does have a camera which I borrow on occasions to use, but it'll be nice to have one of my own.
MP3 Player - (Dru has my iPod Mini at the moment) cute and small, holds a lot of songs. This item is still a +/- for me, as I'm not really sure whether I would use an MP3 player all that often. Obviously I'll have to really convince myself that I'll use it before I could convince myself to spend the money.
Puzzles - I know this is weird but the last 2 times I went to HK, I came back with some really nice jigsaw puzzles which came with their own mounting frames and everything! It was cheap(ish) and these puzzles look really nice. The ones that you can buy here look dodgy, doesn't come with a frame and are expensive.
Clothes
Shoes
Jewellery
That's all I can think of at the moment. I'm sure when I'm over there, I'll be buying stuff left, right and centre.
Oh and the food in HK.... *yum!* Japanese food over there is brilliant (the places I've been to anyway), the food is innovative and interesting, the Maccas over there even sell iced lemon tea and fried chicken wings, KFC sell really yummy chicken rice dishes and Pizza Hut have new "toppings" on their pizzas all the time. I guess they just cater to the Asian population over there... -------
On the way home today, an ambulance passed by with its sirens blaring and watching everyone in the fast lane panicking to move into the slow lane to give way to the vehicle, it reminded me of an experience I had in peak hour once.
We were on Parramatta Rd (near Burwood) going towards the city at around 8-8:15am. Normally at around that sorta time period, the road is heavy with traffic and that day was no exception. We were travelling in the fast lane when suddenly, we hears police sirens wailing on behind us, so we moved in to the middle lane to allow the police car to pass by. My friend (being a quick thinker) quickly pulled back out into the fast lane behind the police car and wah-la! we were nicely cruising along behind the police vehicle, moving quite well through traffic, instead of being stuck in a traffic jam. That was smart, wasn't it? I wouldn't have thought of it myself.

I had a case of a cat today, which was so constipated that it actually vomits when it tries to poo. The poor little thing. At least it didn't have some other fatal disease which would kill it, I suppose. Better to be constipated than to have renal failure or something like that!
Interesting, isn't it? *hehehe*
It's difficult to think of something really interesting to talk about when you're stuck in a place all day, no access to internet, and just looking at animals all the time.
Tomorrow is my day off (I have Wednesdays rostered off), and I'm just going to go shopping with my friend. Luckily she recently started getting Wednesdays off so now I have someone to go out with!
Last Wednesday, we went out to the city and got our hair "done". I just got my hair coloured and my fringe cut, and she got her roots coloured, got a cut and a treatment as well. I spent $110 just on my colour and fringe and my friend spent $210. I promised myself I won't be getting my hair done again until I go back to HK. Last year when I went to HK, I actually paid HK$700 (which is equivalent to around AUD$120) for: colour, treatment, straighten, cut, shampoo and blow dry. Look at how much more I got for my money in HK!!!! Although I did spend like 5-6 hours at the hairdresser. The hairdresser was really cute though..... And my hair to this day is still really straight and nice, and really long now too, it's already down to my lower back. Thought about cutting it, but I always do then I regret it, so this time I'm holding off.
My friend recently commented that I haven't written anything new on my blog site for waayy too long a period of time. So I got a sudden urge to put up a post!
I have no idea who still reads this since I haven't posted anything since May, which was like 4 months ago.
Nothing much has really happened in the last 4 months, except my birthday came and went, making me 24 years old. I can't believe I'm in the mid-20s range! I feel old :( I had 2 small celebrations: a dinner with my family, and a dinner with my girlfriends. Three weeks later I held a steamboat dinner at my house which was half birthday dinner and half just catching up with people I hadn't seen for a while. It was a really good night, we had the steamboat for dinner and then we played poker afterwards.
There's a big increase in the popularity of poker recently, one of the groomers at work even go to poker tournaments and recently won the chance to go down to Melbourne for a tournament. If she wins that one, she gets flown to Las Vegas for a tournament. How good is that?? But I guess winning is a little difficult, it really depends a lot on luck and stuff.
------
Work has been okay. Can you believe it, I've been working as a vet for about 8 months now, it's very quickly coming up to a year already. Time flies by so fast, you blink and you'll probably miss it. My weeks fly by and suddenly we're almost at Christmas-time again. Last Christmas I went to Jervis Bay. This year..... Dru's friends want to go to Jervis Bay again, but I probably wouldn't be able to take the time off. Plus I'm going to Hong Kong for the first half of December, which means I probably shouldn't take time off so soon after my 3 week long holiday!!
I'm excited about going to HK again though, I only just went Sept last year, which means a year ago I guess, but this time, one of my many cousins is getting married! I'm so excited! But I've still to find a dress of some sort to wear to the wedding. I haven't really been to a wedding where I actually know the bride and groom so this will sort of be a first for me, and I know it's going to be a lot of fun! Plus the shopping in HK.... *mmm* Just thinking about it makes me drool a bit... aaand makes my bank account go a little green around the gills.... I guess I really have to control my spending once I'm there.
Unfortunately I don't have many friends over there, but hopefully I'll meet up with the few people that I do know.

I'll have to leave it here for now, I know it's not a long blog, but it's a start... I promise I'll be back soon ;)
